Time Management at Work

Workshop Aim

This workshop enables supervisors to initiate and sustain a strategy for effective time management in their work place. It aims to enable the supervisor to approach self-organisation from an effectiveness, and not just an efficiency, point of view. The focus of the workshop is on getting the most out of yourself and on understanding and achieving the best results in the time available.

Competency Outputs

At the end of this workshop, participants will be able to:
  • Identify their personal organisation tendencies and pinpoint areas for development;
  • Develop an "importance" orientation to organisation as opposed to an "urgency" one;
  • Analyse their own use of time and determine the weaknesses that they need to address;
  • Identify more effective work methods which they can put into practice in the workplace;
  • Develop action plans to address their self-management pitfalls;
  • Utilise time management techniques appropriate to their style and situation.

  • Time management vs self-organisation;
  • Managing paper flow;
  • The move towards self-organisation and management;
  • Identifying and addressing barriers to self-management;
  • Urgency vs importance paradigm;
  • Developing a self-management system;
  • Developing an importance paradigm;
  • Using time-management techniques to increase personal effectiveness.

Methodology

The methodology used in this workshop includes a self-quiz; interactive presentations; group discussions; group exercises; real-time analysis and application.

Target Audience: All professionals who need to effectively manage their time.
Module Duration: 5 - 8 hours, dependent on the level of the group
