Workshop Aim
The effective supervisor understands their role in the organisation and the scope and responsibilities of the position. This introductory module explores the nature of supervision and encourages a mindset where the supervisor takes ownership and responsibility for the tasks and function that they need to perform. The module emphasises the transition that they need to make from non-management to management and explores the changing paradigms in relation to leadership.
Competency Outputs
At the end of this workshop, participants will be able to:
- Identify their key areas of responsibility
- Describe the scope and meaning of their key areas, including tasks and standards
- Differentiate their responsibilities from their manager's responsibilities and agree on these differences with their manager

- The leadership role and changing paradigms
- The management structure of the company and the supervisor's role in relation to the manager
- Supervisory tasks and responsibilities
- Authority vs. responsibility
- Key responsibility areas, objectives and standards
Methodology
The methodology used in this module includes self-check, analysis and reflection; interactive presentations; group discussions; skills practices.
Target Audience: Employees who need supervisory training.
