Handling Non-performers

Workshop Aim

With the introduction of all the legislation governing how employees can be treated in the work place, it is critical that supervisors are equipped with the skills to deal with non-performers effectively. This module equips the supervisor with the skills to deal with non-performance and correct below-par results, in accordance with the labour relations' requirements. The module emphasises the importance of substantive and procedural fairness and consistency of approach.

Competency Outputs

At the end of this workshop, participants will be able to:
  • Identify non-performance and the individuals responsible
  • Identify and understand the legal requirements for handling non-performance
  • Conduct a performance counselling discussion

  • Specifying the non-performance
  • The purpose of performance counselling
  • The stages of performance counselling
  • Potential pitfalls in performance counselling and how to handle them

Methodology

The methodology used in this module includes interactive presentations; group discussions; planning exercises and skills practices in counselling.

Target Audience: Employees who need supervisory training.
Module Duration: 5 - 8 hours, dependent on the level of the group
