Management Planning

Workshop Aim

This module introduces the manager to the function of planning, its importance and the activities involved. It examines the nature of planning and develops management skills in both short term and long-term planning. This module is about developing the self-discipline necessary to draw up and sustain plans. It challenges the managers to analyse where they are not planning effectively and to put in mechanisms that make it easier for them to plan.

Competency Outputs

  • Identify their own planning style and pinpoint areas for development
  • Identify the main planning activities necessary to their job
  • Prepare a plan for an important work project
  • Analyse their plan to identify and address restraining and driving forces

Methodology

The methodology used in this module includes an in-basket exercise; interactive presentations; group discussions; group exercises; planning skills application in real-time projects.
