Taking the Initiative
Workshop AimLeaders today need to take the initiative to make a positive impact on the results of their unit. It is no longer enough to follow instructions and do what the job description says. Things are changing so rapidly that supervisors have to constantly make the effort to do things better, to continuously improve their unit's performance. This module orients the supervisor to his/her role in taking the initiative. The module emphasises the importance of proactive action. It ensures that supervisors understand how taking the initiative can enhance their performance and identifies opportunities for action within the scope of the supervisor's function.

- Understand their role in proactively taking the initiative and making a positive impact on the results of their unit
- Identify and proactively address blocks to his/her initiative in specific situations
- Conduct a simple force field analysis to identify opportunities for continual improvement and initiative in his/her work place

Workshop AimInfluencing and partnering skills are the basis for success for any consultant or internal staff professional. Assertiveness Skills
Workshop AimToday's changing workplace requires all employees to participate proactively in order to contribute to their organisation's success. This workshop enables individuals to identify the need for and develop assertive behaviours in their own work place. The focus of the modules is on enhancing the individual's appropriate use of assertive behaviour and moving them towards personal mastery. The aim is to enabling the individual to understand and apply practical techniques of assertive behaviour in his or her day-to-day work environment.
Competency Outputs
- Demonstrate an understanding of and commitment to the development of their own assertiveness
- Take personal accountability for the outcome of their interactions Identify their own inhibitions, or barriers, to being assertive and develop methods of overcoming these
