Basic Counselling Skills

As the stress in our work and home life increases, employees need more support than ever before to cope with the day-to-day problems that they experience.

Human Resources Practitioners are being asked to counsel employees on a regular basis and these sessions can often be complex and stressful to handle. Although HR people can refer the more complex counselling cases to professionals, there are a number of situations that they are expected to handle internally.

Having the skills to handle these counselling sessions is vital if HR Practitioners are to do this without depleting their own energy. The Trideco workshop equips the delegates with the fundamental counselling skills to handle day-to-day emotional issues.

Competency Outputs

By the end of this workshop, delegates will be able to:

  • Identify their counselling style and set objectives for themselves to overcome any inappropriate behaviours
  • Identify and clarify the type of counsxelling situation theu are faced with
  • Apply a set of counselling guidelines and communication principles to counselling situations
  • Use the essential listening skills to ensure successful counselling sessions

Methodology

A combination of interactive presentations, group discussions, practical exercises and real time learning allow the delegate to develop their counselling skills.
