Jennifer Wellsted Studied Drama at WITS and took Clinical Psychology for non-degree purposes.

Quite early on in her studies it became apparent to her that her true desire was to be in Training and Consulting. However, wanting to ensure that she had no regrets in her life, Jenni went on to finish her degree and then acted professionally for three years.

After her first child was born Jenni was introduced into Trideco as a part-time office support person with the intention of grooming her for training roles. Under the mentorship of Jennie Browning, Pam Porter and Moira Dexter, Jenni learnt the ropes of delivering outcomes based training. Here her passion for drama and learning could blend and out of this union came the learning mechanism of Real Play which became a strong feature of Trideco’s work.

Jenni has always been fascinated by human behaviour and the ability of people to learn and acquire new behaviours on an ongoing basis in order to remain adaptable and achieve new successes. The pragmatic, human focused approach of Trideco with its intention to enhance human behaviour to improve business results was compelling, and proven to deliver visible results.

In order to increase her understanding of the business side of things, Jenni went to WITS Business School to study the PDM (Postgraduate Diploma in Management). Because she had had superb exposure to the HR side in Trideco, Jenni opted to study the Business Administration stream. To this day, Jenni believes it was one of the best investments ever.

In the course of her part time studies, Jenni freelanced as a trainer, still working with Trideco and also with FSA Contact, to roll out a programme of theirs to Tsogo Sun. At the same time Jenni and one of her syndicate partners, Caroline Henry, decided to put their learnings to the test and started their own company, Caridon CC. Here Jenni did interesting things like design F1 help files for software developers, facilitate high level specifications between developers and clients and was trained and accredited in the ParticiplanTM methodology, a process she still uses today.

This provided a living case study and was invaluable in terms of experiencing some of the intricacies of running a business. Experiencing the challenges and triumphs of the business world first-hand gave the theories learnt at Business School a visceral base.

Jenni and Caroline then decided to let the CC go dormant and Jenni returned full time to Trideco. Jenni is now a Director and Senior Consultant and heads up the delivery arm of the company. She is responsible for the professional delivery of most of the training workshops that are conducted by Trideco. She has a passion for her work and a special love for Performance Management and Supervisory Development, although she is able to train any of the multiple workshops offered by Trideco.

In addition to her training responsibilities, she facilitates the implementation of many components of Trideco’s integrated Talent Management processes, e.g. Strategic Selection Skills, Performance Management, Balanced Scorecard systems, etc. This is when she applies her extensive skills in performance consulting, another key methodology used by Trideco.

She also manages Trideco’s new business venture – DISC, liaises with our Australian alliance partners and is focused on building the DISC technology into many of Trideco’s programmes.

Jenni also designs workshops when required, but admits openly that Jennie Browning is the undeniable guru at this discipline.
